London, UK
Senior garden designer/landscape architect
at Harry Holding Studio

Harry Holding Studio is hiring a senior garden designer/landscape architect to join its team in London.

Location: Notting Hill, London; hybrid working, with a minimum of two days per week in the studio; projects in London, across the UK and internationally
Role: full-time
Salary: negotiable based on experience
Start date: as soon as possible

Harry Holding Studio is an international landscape and garden design studio based in London and Hay-on-Wye. We shape atmospheric, abundant places: rich, layered landscapes that feel like heightened versions of nature itself. Our work is plant-driven and ecologically minded, using local, sustainable materials and innovative planting to create bold, immersive and enduring spaces.

Founded by Harry Holding in 2016, the studio works across a wide spectrum, from high-end private gardens and country estates to public and commercial landscapes. Recent work includes The Eden Project: Bring Me Sunshine Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026, winner of the Environmental Innovation Award, which is now becoming a 1.6-acre community garden at the new Eden Project Morecambe. Harry is named one of House & Garden’s Top 25 Garden & Landscape Designers and listed in Spear’s 500. The studio was Pro Landscaper’s Sustainability & Biodiversity Garden Design Studio of the Year, and our work is regularly recognised by the RHS and the Society
of Garden & Landscape Designers (SGLD).

The studio is growing, and this is a pivotal hire as we build for the future.

The role

We are looking for an experienced, multi-skilled senior garden designer/landscape architect to take a leading role in the studio: running projects end to end, delivering design quality and helping shape how we work and grow. You will lead high-end residential and commercial projects from concept through detailed design to on-site delivery, manage client, contractor and supplier relationships and line-manage and mentor our designers. We work across the UK and internationally, so the role will involve travel, particularly as the studio grows and evolves.

Growing with the studio

This is a senior designer role first and foremost. For the right person, there is scope for it to grow, taking on more responsibility over time, including a leading role in our London studio as it develops.

We are looking for someone with:

  • a degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in garden design or landscape architecture (CMLI welcome, but not essential)
  • six to eight years’ experience delivering high-quality projects in practice
  • excellent design ability, from concept through to construction detail
  • strong horticultural and planting knowledge, with a passion for naturalistic, ecological planting
  • proficiency in Vectorworks, SketchUp, the Adobe Creative Suite and Google Workspace
  • a people person: the interpersonal skills to run projects, manage clients and mentor the team
  • the confidence to run projects independently
  • a keen interest in growing the studio and evolving the role over time
  • a clean UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK

What we offer:

  • a competitive salary, dependent on experience
  • discretionary bonus, with profit share possible for the right candidate
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday off, with additional leave that increases with length of service
  • flexible working: studio hours 9-6 (variable with project workload), hybrid with a minimum of two days in our Notting Hill studio
  • company laptop and phone, if required
  • an enhanced CPD and training programme, plus studio research trips to explore exceptional gardens and planting
  • a pivotal role in a growing, ambitious design studio, with room to grow as it develops
