A Designer at Heart is seeking a freelance interior designer/architect to join its team in London.

A Designer at Heart is a new, born-global and London-based interior design consultancy specialising in serviced buildings. Focusing on PBSA, co-living, co-working, and serviced flats, we work with developers to deliver lifestyles and on-brand spaces for active adults and younger generations.

We are looking for freelancers who can work independently and collaborate on our projects when needed. We have a number of different projects, and while this is not a permanent position, we are looking to widen our network of skilled professionals to include people with the most diverse skills. Location is not important, as we can work remotely, but we are looking for self-driven and proactive people.

Role: freelance interior designer/architect

Tasks:

• to work on technical drawings, deliver full detailed tender and construction packages including bespoke joinery
• To develop concepts and space planning together with the founder and director, creating mood boards, sketches and layout plans
• to run the full FF&E procurement for certain projects, independently and proactively sourcing goods and maintain budgets, liaising directly with suppliers
• depending on the project brief, to take responsibility for project deadlines, ensuring they are met and projects are structured to achieve deadlines
• potentially, for the right person, to attend client meetings and site visits

Skills:

• ability to properly handle pressure and deliver on tight deadlines
• a creative mind and an understanding of the full design process
• a desire to work on your own initiative and solve problems
• ability to manage time and priorities
• ability to learn quickly and retain information
• good eye for detail, composition, colours, materials and finishes
• fluent written and spoken English
• minimum four years’ of experience in running commercial interior projects (in the hospitality and retail sectors) from concept to completion
• a degree in architecture from an internationally recognised university

Equipment/software:

• applicants should be equipped with their own laptops
• applicants should be proficient in the following software: Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), Excel, Word, AutoCAD 2D, SketchUp. Working knowledge of Revit and Rhino is an advantage.

Job description:

• this is a freelance position, applicants should be self-employed
• the position is not permanent
• payment is calculated on an hourly rate, and the scope is defined on a project-by-project basis
