Business development manager

WWA Studios is looking to hire a business development manager to join its studio in Oxfordshire, UK.

We are a multi-disciplinary, award-winning practice with a diverse planning and architectural team with offices based in west London and Oxfordshire.

The business development manager’s main purpose is to win new business, grow existing accounts input and execute against growth plans for the future.  Working closely with our management and marketing team you will identify, cultivate, and solicit new business opportunities for the company, focusing on the specific markets relevant to both the London and Oxfordshire offices to secure projects and achieve targeted goals. You will be given the opportunity to represent WWA to clients, peer organisations, and business associates; as well as handling day-to-day communications. Your role is to build and maintain client relationships, fine-tune performance targets and identify key areas of improvement.

Specific tasks will include the following:

  • develop and manage business relations with existing and new clients and partners
  • research and analyse potential business prospects, and work with the management team to develop plans and strategies to optimise business opportunities to its full potential
  • initiate and develop new business opportunities
  • initiate and develop new partnerships with stakeholders in the specialist housing and educational sectors
  • strategise marketing initiatives
  • develop and keep marketing material updated
  • prepare weekly/monthly status updates for management
  • represent WWA Studios at business meetings and trade shows/exhibitions
  • develop, maintain and leverage a strong industry business network
  • participate in a wide range of professional and client organisations

Your experience:

  • the ideal candidate would have minimum three years’ experience in a similar role for a developer or housing association and/or a design/architecture company
  • knowledge of procurement processes in the public and private sector
  • proven experience in prospecting and developing new business, and strong ability to transition prospects to clients
  • previous experience in business development/marketing for a developer or housing association

Essential skills:

  • proficiency in MS Office (particularly PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop)
  • degree in Marketing, built environment or design/architecture with a strong interest in business development
  • experience with CRM software is a plus
  • a proven sales background, confident performing market research, developing new business strategies and reporting
