Taking into consideration both the bigger picture and the granular detail, the team combines creative flair with commercial know-how to achieve maximum impact for clients.
About the role
You are a creative, talented and committed senior artworker, passionate about design and artworking with a wide knowledge of print production processes.
You will have experience of creating print-ready artwork for graphics in the built environment, alongside experience in information graphics, print and branding.
You will have a strategic and methodical way of working and your attention to detail is second to none.
Being able to work collaboratively with the design team is a prerequisite, as is the ability to take ownership of setting up artwork files for production on a variety of materials.
Key responsibilities:
- under the guidance of the creative director, provide a senior role in the delivery of artwork for any project. These will include wayfinding, branding, print and environmental design projects
- manage the workloads of and oversee more junior staff if required in the effective artworking of any project
- liaise with designers throughout design development and final design stages and oversee the smooth transition from design to artworking
- gain a full understanding of any brief and filter back to the team if required
- oversee typographic rules, print and colour testing, image retouching and the issue of artworking files to printers
- ensure work is produced to deadlines and budgets
- maintain an understanding of current design, materials, finishes and techniques
- show complete attention to detail
- keep print and paper samples and colour swatches up to date
- attend any meetings/presentations as required both internally and externally
- maintain all records and files relating to the design work for each project
- add insight and value to projects
- deliver work according to an agreed timescale and be able to work on multiple projects at a time, depending on size of projects
- assist in the development and mentoring of more junior members of staff
- liaise with contractors, ensuring all work produced is of the highest quality whilst providing value for money. This includes procuring samples/prototypes
- play a key role in defining and developing the Holmes Wood artwork process
- be responsible for quality assurance throughout the artworking process and carry out quality control checks on-site and at manufacturer facilities prior to installation
- assist in the preparation of any presentations as required
- assist in achieving studio and project goals
- carry out ad hoc duties as requested by appropriate managers
About you
Skills and experience required:
- skilled in typography, colour, mapping, iconography, infographics and composition
- an extensive knowledge of pre-press and working with litho and digital printers
- proactive in seeking confirmation of outstanding queries
- ability to work with architectural plans and elevations
- ability to work to standard architectural scales
- driven by delivering the best possible outcome for our clients
- excellent typographic skills
- excellent attention to detail
- excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- fluent in written and spoken English
- high level of interpersonal skills
- time management skills including an ability to meet tight deadlines
- excellent computer skills in Adobe Creative Suite – must be proficient in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- minimum six years’ experience or equivalent
