SGS Design is seeking a mid-weight/senior architectural interior designer to join its team in Kent, UK.
SGS Design is a boutique interior design studio, working within the high end residential sector. We are seeking an experienced mid-weight/senior designer to join our team in Kent. You will be working as part of a friendly and collaborative team, the ideal candidate would be looking to develop their career with us long term. We are a busy and hands-on practice, the role will suit someone who is genuinely hard working and creative, with a passion for design and getting things right for the client.
Ideally you will have prior experience of working on UK based high-end residential projects and be highly proficient in AutoCAD (Rhino), Photoshop and InDesign.
Your responsibilities at SGS Design will include but are not exclusively the following:
- take responsibility for managing the design process for several of our residential interior projects from concept to installation. Including problem solving and prioritising your tasks and time efficiently
- oversee junior designers and lead preparation of design concepts and visions through imagery and sketches that reflect the project budget/constraints and communicate ideas effectively to client and consultants
- demonstrate a clear understanding and formulation of design decisions for discussion internally and externally
- awareness of current style trends as well as a broader knowledge and interest in interior design and history of design
- accurately update and issue specification changes to the client and contractor. Prepare information in response to client, supplier and contractor requests. Ensure information is accurate and sent without delay
- ensure studio standards are executed with all design documentation issued
- coordination of MEP and services
- manage selection of product, budgeting, scheduling and of FF&E products for the interior finishes of multiple projects
- manage project programs and deadlines. Pre-empting information requests based on contractor programming and deadlines
- check all specification against layout plans to ensure accurate dimensions and quantities prior to ordering
- coordination and collaboration with our procurement manager and FF&E procurement
- full management of dressing and installation phase
- full management of client handover, project feedback and snagging
- a majority of our design work is UK based but you may be required to work on international client projects
- attend regular site and supplier visits to track progress, with follow-up and feedback
- full UK driving license and access to a vehicle required
