Project architect
at Yeates Design

Yeates Design is seeking a project architect to join its team in London.

Role: project architect – full-time (part-time by agreement)

Yeates Design are seeking a qualified architect (RIBA or equivalent), with a minimum three years’ post qualification experience and a proven track record running UK based projects. Experienced Part 2 candidates demonstrating comparable job running skills are also eligible to apply.

Flexible working hours are available.

Salary: negotiable but £45-50k is possible for the right candidate based on experience and qualifications

Who we are

We are a RIBA chartered practice based in south-east London, working in a range of sectors but primarily private residential and mixed-use development. Founded by Nick Yeates in 1993, the practice is committed to finding well-crafted solutions that exceed client expectations wherever possible.

We are currently involved in a number of projects at various stages, including an ambitious mixed-use scheme that has recently received planning. This scheme will create a new church, community hall, café and associated housing. It is part of a wider regeneration scheme meeting the needs of a deprived area.

We are also working on two mixed-use schemes to convert a former flour mill and a Royal Mail sorting office into residential and commercial spaces.

We have an extensive portfolio of high-end new build homes and renovations (current and completed), and a proven track record in achieving well designed modern spaces that complement and draw from the local vernacular whilst balancing client expectations and local requirements.

It is likely you will be involved in at least one of these schemes, but you will also have ample opportunity to take creative ownership of future projects and see them through from initial scheme design to completion on site.

Our requirements

A qualified architect (RIBA or equivalent) with 3 years post qualification experience. You must have a proven track record overseeing UK based projects at every RIBA stage (feasibility, scheme design, pre-app/planning, tender/construction issue packages, on-site period and completion). A Part 2 candidate demonstrating comparable job running skills may also be considered.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong residential/mixed-use background.

You should also have the following:

  • a good design eye
  • 3D modelling skills
  • proficiency in Vectorworks, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Be London based or live within easy commute of London and the south-east
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English, and eligible to work in the UK

What we offer

In return we offer a working environment in which the successful candidate will be able to utilise and develop their skills in a supportive and collaborative atmosphere, and potentially grow their role within the practice over time.

We recognise that today’s applicants face particular challenges, and we are able to offer significant flexibility in working hours to help you achieve a good work/life balance. We are also open to the possibility of a part-time arrangement.

This is currently a remote working position with in-person meetings and site visits as and when appropriate.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications but £45-50k is possible for the right candidate.

Start date: as soon as possible
