Practice manager vacancy — 9-12 months cover
Award-winning practice David Morley Architects are seeking an energetic practice manager to join their friendly team, based in Farringdon, London. As part of the management team, this is an exciting opportunity to influence strategic change, within a dynamic and growing organisation.
The practice manager will oversee the smooth and efficient running of all aspects of the practice, from the coordination of office events and socials, thorough to overall HR and facilities management. This position will see you working closely with everyone in the office; advising and supporting the partners and senior management, managing the admin team and supporting the rest of the office. Human Resources makes up a large proportion of this role, therefore the ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and a true ‘people-person’ with excellent organisational skills, a professional, flexible approach and unflappable attitude.
Tasks will include (but are not limited to):
Human resources
- advise partners and senior management on employee relation issues, such as disciplinary and performance management
- arrange and conduct inductions for new staff and work experience students
- manage recruitment and selection process
- implement any legal changes to HR policies and update staff employment handbook and intranet accordingly
- ensure compliance with data protection act
- manage staff holiday and sickness absence
- oversee appraisal process and conduct appraisals for support staff
- instruct payroll bureau on monthly changes to salaries and staff benefits
- coordinate pension payments and liaise with Pensions broker
Administration
- managing admin team
- ensure all certification and professional memberships are up to date
- organise office and team social events
- monitor and assist with adherence to ISO 9001 & 14001 accreditations
Facilities and office environment
- research and lead enhancements to office environment, to support staff wellbeing
- oversee security and organise routine maintenance
- manage cleaning team
- first point of contact for external IT support company, overseeing IT troubleshooting
- manage insurance renewals
- manage supplier costs and relationships
Health and safety
- maintain H&S files
- conduct office-related risk assessments
- organise H&S training and ensure the practice complies with all H&S legislation
- maintain CHAS accreditation and constructionline membership
Business development and marketing
- events coordination
- ad-hoc help with OJEU, awards and exhibition submissions
- assistance with documents for new business as required
Desired but not essential experience also includes:
- bookkeeping
- social media management
