Aria Group Architects is hiring a senior designer to join its team in Illinois, USA.
The senior designer at Aria Group is a vital part of the project team and collaborates with all members of the project team to generate and execute cohesive design packages and articulately present the concepts both internally and externally. The senior designer provides concept sketches and imagery to convey the design intent so that each design may be effectively executed and delivered on time and within budget.
As the team hub, the senior designer maintains a close working relationship with the project coordinator (PC) to perform and manage essential plan elements and to inspire effective and seamless collaboration between the design and technical aspects for each project on their studio team. The senior designer follows the lead of the project designer (PD) but is encouraged and tasked to generate design concepts and innovative solutions.
Additional responsibilities for this role include:
- creates impactful design ideas from scratch and develops plans and elevations to form an overall cohesive design
- maintains a drive to continue learning and demonstrates a willingness to increase knowledge of building technology, life safety, ADA code compliance and design trends
- effectively and succinctly communicates with the project team to ensure the design intent is incorporated into design packages and construction documents efficiently
- proactively communicates with project team to keep them abreast of progress and potential challenges and can demonstrate how they have developed innovative solutions to resolve issues and construction challenges
- assists the PD in presenting the design intent to the client, monitoring design packages and construction drawings; and establishing schedules and staffing needs to meet deadlines
- navigates the technicality of project drawings and submittals to ensure design intent is successfully carried out across all stages of the project
- oversees and mentors architectural and interior designers and provides guidance on improving their skills
- bachelor’s/master’s degree in architecture or interior design from an accredited school
- minimum of six years’ of architectural design practice experience – specifically within the restaurant hospitality sector
- additional hospitality experience a plus in the following sectors: hotels, entertainment/sporting venues, multi-use, office/retail and planning
- AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Microsoft Office experience required
- Revit experience preferred; Illustrator a plus
- SketchUp and 3D Modeling software experience a plus
