L+ Architects is seeking a Part 2/3 architect to join its team in London.

Who we are 

L+ Architects is a boutique studio based in a trendy office in East Sheen, Richmond. Our design philosophy is biophilic contemporary design and we work in both commercial and high-end residential schemes, with an emphasis on residential. Recently we have been winning similar prestigious commissions and we are looking to grow our team.  

As a high end residential and commercial studio we have very high standards of both design and presentation and require a polished look.  

The role 

L+ Architects is recruiting a Part 2/3 architect who will work closely with the principal architect and existing team: we are looking for a team player who enjoys the client liaison and technical side of the design and can liaise directly with the client.  

This role is studio based in East Sheen and we work throughout the UK but mainly in southwest London and Surrey, and the southwest of England. The successful candidate will deal with the client directly throughout the briefing process, design, and pre-planning stages and as well as liaising with cost consultants, internal and external consultants, and professionals.  

Experience 

The successful candidate will be running projects from inception to completion for new build  and refurbishments in southwest London and wherever we have projects. It will be your  responsibility to prepare drawings, plans and documents for feasibility studies, pre/planning  applications and obtain relevant research and permissions bit we are looking for someone  with predominantly excellent technical abilities. We need a native or bilingual speaker who has worked in the UK for three plus years and has the right to work here without being sponsored.  

What do you get? 

We are a small, family-friendly practice. This role enables you to see a project from inception to completion and have a hands-on role in most aspects. We would be willing to help the right candidate towards their Part III exams when convenient for both parties. We offer 20  days annual leave plus bank holidays, and you can by negotiation take up to five days unpaid  leave. We also offer an annual profit-share scheme dependant on length of service and performance.  

Main duties and responsibilities 

Key skills: 

  • demonstrate solid expertise in high end residential new build houses and period  refurbishment projects preferably in the southwest London area
  • excellent design, presentation, and technical ability 
  • a demonstrable track record of running projects from inception to completion
  • comprehensive contract documentation and contract administration skills.
  • REVIT and AutoCAD proficiency two plus years 
  • high proficiency in Vectorworks, 3D modelling skills Sketchup and 3D rendering skills,  InDesign and Photoshop software
  • ability to coordinate and manage external technical staff, consultants, and  contractors 
  • strong ability to prioritise and handle multi-tasking 
  • excellent ability in the production of detailed drawing packages for construction
  • advanced knowledge of NBS specification, UK British standards and building regulations
  • managed projects on site successfully to timescale and budget
  • commercially savvy as well as demonstrate understanding for budgets and construction costs
  • keep up to date time sheets 
  • positive, outgoing, and approachable communicator, able to express ideas effectively,  orally, graphically and in writing, and can lead any client comfortably through the  design process and respond effectively to the clients’ briefs
  • can keep up with a fast-paced working environment and deal with obstacles and tight deadlines with a positive attitude
  • experience and thought to suggesting and keeping materials for updating the  website/marketing materials and getting images/hand drawn sketches and  photographs for the social media offerings and helping with marketing strategies in  liaison with other architects and the office manager 
  • fluent in English, verbal and written 
  • have the right to work and reside in the UK: we cannot offer sponsorship
