Transport associate director – architecture

Arup is seeking a transport associate director to lead its architecture team in Birmingham, UK.

We are looking for a leader to help us to establish a thriving new architecture team in the Midlands. You will have a track record of design and delivery of transport buildings and a minimum of 15 years’ experience

Job description

You will join a vibrant, diverse, multidisciplinary practice currently based in London but expanding to Birmingham and Bristol. Working directly with the architecture leadership team in London and the multi-disciplinary leadership in Birmingham you will provide strong design and project leadership through all stages of a range of projects, support work winning activities locally and with London team and support the growth and development of the local team.

Potential candidates will:

  • have demonstrable experience in guiding transport project through all stages of the project cycle to a successful outcome
  • be able to demonstrate experience of transport client governance and assurance processes and their ability to obtain approvals from a recognised transport authority
  • have experience on working on HS2 projects with delivery partners would be beneficial
  • have experience of working internationally on major transport projects would be beneficial
  • be able to demonstrate ability to work collaboratively, in fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment
  • have experience work of working directly with clients
  • demonstrate expertise to supervise, mentor and develop a number of staff to enable them to meet their potential, and grow the capability and size of our teams
  • demonstrate skills and knowledge in sustainability and climate change resilience
  • hold a masters in architecture or equivalent with minimum 15 years post qualification experience in design led practices
  • be a professional architect registered in UK
  • fluency in English is a pre-requisite
