Harper Perry is seeking a Part 2 architectural assistant to join its team in Newcastle, UK.
Who are we
We are a small practice working across the fields of architecture, urban design and planning. We are looking for a graduate designer to join us and help grow our team for the long term and build their own expertise within the studio.
The role is full-time and is based in our studio in Newcastle city centre. We work 37 hours within the week and can offer flexible hours and partial home-working if needed. In general, we don’t work overtime. Any out-of-hours work such as community events or committee meetings would be compensated.
We are a family-friendly practice with a supportive work culture. We often work collaboratively with other professionals as well as community groups and can offer good opportunities to develop skills in engagement and collaborative practice.

Projects
The role will include work across a number of current projects, ranging from large, multi-family housing, strategic planning and policy work with local authorities and community groups, through to domestic extensions, refurbishments and exhibition work.
Experience
The right person would ideally have the following attributes:
- good research skills and a critical attitude towards the built environment
- be engaged, inquisitive and willing to challenge
- a strong communicator, both verbally and visually, with a fluent use of drawings and other media
- excellent written and spoken English
- have some understanding of construction detail and an interest in developing a skillset in this area
- experience draughting in 2D and 3D modelling (we work primarily in AutoCAD and SketchUp – Revit is a bonus).
- experience with Adobe Creative Cloud tools (Photoshop and InDesign)
- someone who enjoys making physical models
Offer
The salary starts at £26,000 per annum.
