Architectural Technician

Sedley Place is seeking a Architectural Technician to join its team in London.

Sedley Place is an award-winning multi-disciplinary creative agency with specialist skills in interior and architectural design, branding, packaging, marcoms, motion graphics and digital design.

We are looking for a junior architectural/interior designer to work within our creative teams. This is an exciting and varied position and is an excellent opportunity for growth and development for the successful candidate.

Candidate responsibilities:

  • Preparation of technical and construction drawings, details and specifications suitable for accompanying applications for planning and building control approvals in line with all project budgets
  • Identifying and managing risk through proper coordination of design information in line with project programs.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and suppliers to ensure consistent designs are delivered.
  • Produce details drawings and specifications suitable for the design team to fulfil obligations in preparation of tendering and construction information.
  • Produce detailed construction information suitable to deliver built product without compromise to program, quality, health, safety and cost.
  • Preparation of specification documentation and schedules.
  • Attendance on construction sites as Sedley Place’s representation i.e. have experience working at all project stages, including construction.
  • Be keen to support and deliver practice administration and development.

Candidate requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience.
  • Prepare detailed drawing packages.
  • Prepare concept designs and presentations for review by senior designer.
  •  Update cost plans, mood boards and schedules.
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations.

The successful candidate should have proven experience in the following:

  • ArchiCAD knowledge beneficial, but not essential
  • AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, Keynote, Excel and proficient in Mac suite
  • Strong communication skills including verbal, written, and visual attention to detail
  • High standard of both verbal and written English
  • Ability to work within a small team
  • Able to proactively manage workload and project timelines for the studio
