Studio of Art & Commerce is seeking a conceptual designer and 3D visualiser to join its team in London.

Studio of Art & Commerce are looking for an agile conceptual designer and 3D visualiser to join its team in Soho to work on immersive, multi-sensory and interactive installations and experiences.

We are a small, innovative team working across a diverse range of exciting international projects. We create outstanding immersive experiences & world class entertainment. Working in the physical, virtual, and the space in between, the studio employs technology to empower narrative storytelling and create memorable impact. The studio creates work for external clients as well as developing ideas under our own IP.

The role will consist of:

  • working with the creative director and other team members to conceptually develop ideas for new and unique installations, experiences and events; often employing new and emerging technologies to push the boundaries of interactivity and multi-sensory experience
  • generating quick turnaround 3D models and still and animated visualisations to assist with the evaluation and refinement of concept ideas, and for use within presentations and pitches
  • assisting with the development of successful concepts through to fruition, including commissioning and installation of works

Essential skills

Professional experience working across a creative design workflow:

    • Conducting targeted research into themes and contexts.
    • Finding sources of inspiration from the worlds of science, technology and culture.
    • Creatively brainstorming, drawing on research, references and personal experience, to develop innovative & appropriate ideas and solutions in response to a brief.
    • Evaluating and developing ideas based on creative feedback & practical limitations to create design iterations quickly and efficiently.

Further skills:

  • excellent 3D modelling skills utilising efficient procedural workflows, using: C4D (preferred)/Unreal/Houdini/Rhino and Grasshopper/Solidworks/etc., to create articulate models in a fast paced environment
  • excellent generation of diagrammatic as well as photorealistic renders and animations, wireframes, plans, flythroughs, etc.
  • excellent skills accurately simulating lighting effects, kinetic systems, fluid materials, etc.
  • experience building generative content and data visualisations
  • active interest in and broad knowledge of contemporary experimental art, immersive experiences, interactive exhibitions, immersive theatre, light shows, festivals, etc.
  • able to effectively work and manage time both independently and within the context of the wider team

Package:

  • level – mid/senior
  • contract – permanent
  • salary – DPE
  • annual leave – 25 days per year (Jan-Dec) excluding bank holidays
  • based in Soho, London (due to the nature of the work, this role requires primarily in-person attendance at the studio)
