Naga Architects is hiring a head of architecture to join its concept team in Dubai, UAE.

Job description

Overall purpose of the role

Responsible to creating and maintain a design language for the office side to side with the principal leading the architecture design section in the creative design department which includes the teams in Dubai and Boston (if needed) to produce the entire concepts of projects , and  the schematic architectural design NAGA projects in UAE.

Strategy and development:

• lead a concept driven approach to design and architecture that benchmarks the industry standards designs projects and/or review architectural or engineering plans, specifications and contract documents to ensure compliance with government zoning codes, laws and regulations
• ability to capture and specify the design requirements and the development and validation needed to deliver successful systems, products, and components to meet/exceed the customer’s specifications and budget

General management:

• responsibility for the management of all Design activities in architecture team
• ensure designs fit with the project budgets in coordination with the estimation team
• liaise closely with all departments to fully understand design requirements
• present design proposals to clients according to prescribed deadlines
• manage the office P&L for the architecture section
• developing strategic design plans with projected timelines and budget
• overseeing the design projects in coordination with all departments and various sections within the creative department, from start to finish
• oversees design presentations, monitors project design development along with the technical director
• responsible for developing firm-wide design standards
• administer and supervise the design section team members
• provide support to production to improve lead times
• improve reliability performance to reduce or eliminate warrantable issues in the field
• identify and implement design improvements (functionality, cost, design for manufacture)
• be customer-facing and manage  clients meetings
• embrace and champion continuous improvement
• analyzing market research to create more effective designs
• provide clients approvals on concept designs
• manage the staff and evaluate performance continuously
• monitor the internal working hours
• keep the continuous office creativity

Qualifications and experience levels: 

• bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture
• minimum 18 years’ experience. With minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role
• excellent presentation abilities
• managerial skills with minimum of five to ten years’ experience
• ability to provide critical design review to design teams, communicating design ideas and direction
• strong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills
• skilled in working with the related software as Revit, Lumion, SketchUp, Photoshop, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and 3Ds Max
