Senior architect

BIG is seeking a Czech-speaking senior architect with ten plus years’ experience to join its team in Copenhagen, Denmark.

As our office in Copenhagen is growing at a rapid pace and we have a pipeline of interesting projects, we are looking for a Czech-speaking senior architect with ten plus years’ experience.

As a senior architect you will be based in our Copenhagen office together with +300 fantastic BIGsters where you will be part of a fast-paced environment.

If you wish to be considered for any future openings with our Copenhagen office, you must have ten plus years’ post-grad professional experience as an Architect within concept development, design development, construction documentation and construction administration.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • work with and report daily to the project manager and/or project architect
  • assist with the management of junior team members
  • drafting comprehensive drawing sets from concept through construction documents
  • generate detailed 3D models to develop all parts of the changing design process
  • technical detailing and construction administration experience, with the ability to resolve design issues in a creative and pragmatic way by developing multiple design options that meet the project budget and design approach
  • strong ability to prepare, develop and edit drawings and models as they relate to the project
  • good conceptual and design skills, with aesthetic flair
  • communication, coordination and management of consultants, contractors, clients, regulatory agencies and approving bodies to meet overall project objectives
  • deliverables produced in accordance with BIG’s standards and based on direction from the project manager/architect and the partner in charge

Essential skills:

  • excellent communication skills, fluent in English and Czech – spoken and written
  • significant contributions to an extremely well documented and coordinated drawing set
  • excellent ability in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite; Grasshopper and V-Ray is a plus
  • solid knowledge of products, materials, zoning / building codes and construction methods
  • strong organisational skills, ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines on budget and on time
  • a keen eye for attention to detail and accuracy
  • proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative in response to direction from project managers, directors and partners
  • a team player, with a flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and collaborating

Experience and qualifications:

  • professional qualification as an architect or an equivalent overseas qualification
  • ten plus years’ of professional experience in all phases of the design process: conceptual, detail and design development, construction documents, and construction administration with site supervision
  • experience on built and published references
  • experience with Czech legislation and building code on build projects
  • experience with larger and cultural projects
