at Frame Projects
Frame Projects is seeking quality review panel members on behalf of the London Borough of Brent.
Experts in architecture, landscape, sustainable design, urban design, and town planning are invited to join Brent council’s new quality review panel. The panel will advise on planning applications and promote good growth and high-quality development across the borough.
As one of the most diverse and culturally rich boroughs in London, Brent is a dynamic and engaging place, with much to be proud of and celebrate. Every year, more and more people are calling Brent their home. The Council is adopting a design-led approach to address the increasing challenges posed by climate change, the housing crisis and the need for strategic infrastructure to support our residents of today and tomorrow.
The council’s aim is to create a more equal and affordable borough. We want to deliver high-quality, sustainable places that people are proud to live in and to maximise opportunities to access good quality housing, employment, education and culture. The expert advice of the panel will assist councillors and officers in considering new proposals from the early outset of discussions.
Applications are welcome from experts in the following areas
Architecture:
- mixed-use, housing-led development
- tall buildings
- education, including urban typology schools
- private rented sector development
- commercial/light industrial
- arts, leisure and culture
Urban design/town planning:
- estate regeneration
- masterplanning/design coding
- development on strategic industrial land
Landscape architecture:
- activating urban public spaces
- public realm
- design for play
- placemaking
- green infrastructure
Sustainability:
- designing for net-zero carbon
- microclimatic effects of development
- energy strategies at both a strategic and building scale
- circular economy and whole life-cycle approach
- sustainable urban drainage
Transport infrastructure/planning:
- supporting sustainable modes
Heritage/townscape:
- reuse of non-designated locally listed buildings
Health and wellbeing:
- quality of life
- public health
- healthy streets
The panel will have around 20 members and typically five members will attend each review. It will test the fundamental design principles of planning proposals both at pre-application stage and as part of the application process itself.
Applications should be addressed to Frame Projects, which manages the quality review panel to maintain the independence of its advice.

The closing date for applications is Friday 16 September 2022 at 17:00.
Applicants should be able to commit to attending approximately three meetings a year. Appointment will initially be for the calendar year starting in November 2022. Remuneration will be set at £450/day and £225/half day.
