About you

You will be an enthusiastic starter and have excellent graphic, written and oral communications skills; combined with an understanding of the importance and role of consultation and engagement in community planning.

Knowledge of planning, urban design and/or architecture or similar field is an advantage; experience at creative engagement techniques an asset and a desire to build a shared agenda for change is crucial.

About the role

ECs will be required to work in teams of about four people. This role offers a unique opportunity for a recent graduate or someone at the start of their career to make genuine contributions to regeneration and strategic planning projects at different scales across London. The role is extremely varied, but you will be working within the team to support community outreach and engagement, undertake mapping exercises, developing creative techniques for people to participate in the design and development process and producing high quality communications. You will also produce different forms of engagement collateral for the team’s projects.

Role:

  • work flexibly in a multi-disciplinary team and across a number of projects
  • develop and produce interesting and engaging content for different project workstreams such pop-ups, exhibitions and workshops and other outputs such as reports and presentations
  • assist with developing ideas and support the team to engage and consult with different stakeholders and communities across London
  • help plan and deliver events
  • organise, attend and record meetings and events with a range of stakeholders
  • database, analyse and report on findings from consultations and other events
  • assist senior members of the team and handle other office duties as appropriate

Skills:

  • have a passion and interest in working in the built environment
  • Educated to degree level in an urban design, planning or other allied
    field (architecture/geography/design/environment) or have a keen interest in the built environment and related issues
  • solid experience using and working with InDesign and similar applications
  • have some experience in community consultation and engagement
  • competent level of IT skills – Microsoft Office: Word and Excel/CS Suite
  • comfortable dealing with people in public, enjoy public interaction and be a good listener

  • energetic and friendly – willing to engage with people
  • timeliness and ability to react positively to last minute changes
  • collaborative – projects often involve working as part of a larger
  • consultant team that consist of architects, the council/developer and various other practitioners related to a development /regeneration project

Some weekend work will be required at events.
