David Kohn Architects is hiring a studio manager to join its team in London.

The role

David Kohn Architects is looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised studio manager (maternity cover) to provide critical level of support to the practice management.

The role is diverse and include aspects of HR, administration, finances, new business, PR and marketing and facilities management. The successful candidate will support the senior management team across a wide range of tasks and play a key role in setting the ideal conditions for producing excellent design work. A creative and analytical approach are integral parts to the role, with a commercial awareness and capacity to engage with new business to contribute to the practice long-term strategic objectives.

The practice

David Kohn Architects was established in 2007 and has gained an international reputation for the quality of its design. We are currently working on major projects including a mixed used building in Birmingham, an architecture faculty in Belgium and a university campus in Oxford. Supporting our clients in the drive towards carbon negative futures is an important part of our current and future work.

Experience and knowledge:

  • degree level education
  • experience in a similar role (at least three years’), supporting the senior management team in office or studio management
  • experience of working in a creative business of at least ten people, requiring co-ordination of staff engagement with HR, finances and facilities
  • experience of CRM systems and social medias management
  • previous experience within an architecture practice is preferable but not essential
  • knowledge of architecture and arts through personal interest desirable

Skills:

  • excellent interpersonal skills with ability to engage and motivate colleagues
  • excellent communication skills, both spoken and written
  • proactive in driving improvements in office management
  • financial literacy ranging from invoicing to budget management
  • computer literate, proficient in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • self-motivated, using initiative and a problem solver
  • capacity to multitask, prioritise effectively and work to deadlines
  • ability to work independently, a graphic eye with a high level of attention to detail
  • confident, affable and open to working in a dynamic, changing environment
  • enthusiasm and a willingness to undertake other tasks and learn new skills;
  • must have the right to work in the UK
