Award-winning visitor destination designers Studio MB are looking for an ambitious senior project manager to help us deliver a wide variety of existing and new projects. Museums and heritage is an amazing industry to be involved in, but no project is the same and many are complex. That’s why we are looking for an all-round project management professional with an equal measure of expertise, experience and sheer enthusiasm to meet the different challenges each and every project we undertake provides.

Key duties

Working closely with the design directors you will be responsible for project management and administrative supervision throughout the development and delivery phases of projects. You will ensure they’re running to programme, budget and the commercial interests of the company. This role will include document control, contract administration, client and contractor liaison, information co-ordination, budget and scheduling adherence, tender and procurement management, as well as site co-ordination and the production of health and safety documentation.

Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, risk management, problem solving, reviewing new business opportunities, assisting with tender submissions and presentations, performing principal designer function (CDM 2015), contract reviews and negotiation, advising finance manager of project progress for staged invoicing and other duties as may reasonably be required and requested.

About you:

  • educated to degree standard (design/project management qualifications desirable but not essential)
  • proven track record of being a senior project manager with at least seven years’ relevant project management experience within a design sector or similar
  • excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with ability to liaise and build relationships
  • highly organised with ability to multi-task, prioritise and problem-solve when working under pressure to tight and conflicting deadlines and to guide others to do the same
  • strong numerical and IT skills with an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Teams. Adobe Creative Cloud and Apple Mac experience is desirable
  • ability to see the big picture and work with high attention to detail, consistency and accuracy
  • able and willing to work flexibly in support of projects and the company and be comfortable with travel and routinely shifting priorities
  • knowledge of relevant working practices, guidelines and regulations (including CDM 2015), health and safety, standard building contracts, industry technologies, sustainability, finishes and materials is desirable
  • be up to date with trends and legislations, be constantly inquisitive and continually proactive
  • full clean driving licence would be beneficial
  • Studio MB is located in Edinburgh. Your presence working in the studio is essential
