Junior technical designer is required for an award-winning and innovative joinery business, primarily focused at supplying interior designers, developers, contractors, architects and discerning individual clients with bespoke kitchens and cabinetry.

Job description
This is very much a design role that requires creative flair and technical skill. We work for a wide variety of high-end contractors and interior design clients and our briefs are generally to turn their concept images and drawings into cost-effective reality, using our creativity and technical knowledge in new and innovative ways. Our technical design team work closely with our sales designers to produce shop drawings and specifications for both customer concept sign off and production. Our sales designers handle sampling, concept design and development and customer relations, with our technical design team producing the detailed drawings for production and install.
Duties will include:
- to work alongside a team of two technical designers in-house and one remote technical designer
- to assist a team of sales and concept designers with technical advice and work together to detail highly bespoke items
- to translate concept drawings into shop drawings for manufacture and concept sign off, principally using Cabinet Vision
- to produce drawings to the appropriate level of detail (including specialist materials) for manufacture and to be used on site during installation
- to co-ordinate ordering of specialist materials with procurement i.e., metalwork and ironmongery
- to ensure deadlines are met and designs are produced efficiently
- to work with the sales designers to produce detailed specifications for procurement, manufacture and client sign off
Experience required:
- previous joinery and furniture manufacture design role or furniture design degree or similar desirable
- excellent planning, organisation and communication skills
- a thorough approach and attention to detail
- understanding of joinery production and workshop tooling
- experience with the following software packages: AutoCAD, 3D Design Software, Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.) and Cabinet Vision
- commercial awareness and time-management skills
- ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
- positive working attitude
- passionate about design
- willingness to learn and continually develop skills
Reports to: design and workshop manager
Salary: negotiable depending on experience
