Senior interior designer

A Designer at Heart is hiring a senior interior designer to join its team in London (hybrid).

A Designer at Heart is a specialist interior design studio focused on operational real estate, including purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), Build to Rent (BTR), and hybrid hospitality.

We are looking for a senior interior designer with proven experience managing interior design projects from concept to handover. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a small, senior team, taking ownership of their workstreams, making day-to-day decisions, and leading work hands-on.

Key responsibilities:

  • take ownership of projects from concept through to completion
  • support client communication and act as a day-to-day point of contact on relevant projects
  • lead project coordination with the wider consultant and supplier team
  • take responsibility for project programmes and deadlines, ensuring they are met
  • coordinate design resources across the team on assigned projects
  • work closely with the rest of the senior team, delegating drawing packages during busy periods and supporting others with deadlines where needed
  • provide feedback to less experienced team members and help ensure drawings are delivered to company standards
  • proactively suggest ways to streamline processes and improve efficiency
  • help ensure projects are delivered within agreed time budgets
  • deliver concept design and space planning in 3D, including modelling in Revit
  • develop concept presentations in InDesign, including mood boards, sketches, and FF&E boards
  • produce technical drawings and full tender and construction packages in Revit
  • lead FF&E procurement on selected projects, including sourcing products and samples, maintaining budgets, and liaising directly with suppliers

Skills and experience:

  • strong experience using Revit to deliver interior design projects in a BIM environment
  • ability to work confidently within Revit project environments, including schedules of quantities, room schedules, and similar documentation
  • experience creating and editing Revit families is essential; experience creating parametric families is a plus
  • strong ability to manage time, priorities, and deadlines independently
  • strong knowledge of UK building regulations, codes and industry standards relevant to interior design projects
  • well-established supplier network, with strong knowledge of FF&E and building systems
  • excellent eye for detail, composition, colour, and materials, with a strong understanding of the full design process
  • previous experience in PBSA and BTR is an advantage
  • strong communication and people skills
  • fluent spoken and written English
  • six to nine years’ proven experience delivering commercial interior design projects from concept to completion
  • degree in interior architecture or a related field from an internationally recognised university

Software and equipment:

  • the successful candidate must be highly proficient in the following software (non-negotiable): Revit, InDesign and Photoshop, Dropbox, Microsoft 365 suite
  • working knowledge of AutoCAD and Illustrator is an advantage
  • confidence using AI tools to support research and workflow efficiency is an advantage

Working arrangement:

  • this is a hybrid role, with two days per week based in the office (near Finsbury Park) during UK working hours
  • site visits in the UK and abroad will be required depending on project needs, so the candidate must be willing to travel
