BDG Architecture + Design is hiring a mid-weight designer to join its team in London.
BDG Architecture + Design is seeking a highly motivated mid-weight designer to work on workplace design projects in EMEA from our studio in London.
BDG Architecture + Design is a team of 70 people, a mix of architects, designers, strategists, and communicators, spread across three studios in London, New York and Sao Paulo.
We pride ourselves on being specialists in adaptive reuse of buildings and workplace design. The team is highly tech-savvy, enthusiastic and passionate about design. Responsibilities:
- developing design from strategic briefs through schematic and developed design stages
- production of design information, drawings and 3D information
- design programming and monitoring of personal deadlines against responsibilities
- design coordination with external consultants
- presentations to client and project teams
- working seamlessly with our strategy team to ensure client briefs and requirements are met
- working closely with design partners to develop detail, bidding and construction design and monitor delivery on site
- design and technical reviews with senior team members
The position will suit someone who is:
- a natural boundary pusher with the ability to think outside of the normal parameters of design
- able to pro-actively problem solve and test design ideas using digital and non-digital techniques and the application of iterative design to realise ideas
- conscious and curious about human interaction between people and spaces
- a genuine interest in sustainable and forward-thinking construction methods and materials
- a willingness to share ideas and pro-actively participate in group discussions
- possesses a flexible and open attitude towards new and collaborative ways of working
- able to use their own initiative and respond well to directions or instructions
- have great interpersonal communication skills
- determined and passionate about professional development
- comfortable in a fast-paced and collaborative environment with changing priorities
- self-starter ability to learn quickly and demonstrate willingness to take on new responsibilities
- ability to work in a multi-disciplinary studio and with distributed teams between continents
Skills and requirements:
- architectural degree and professional qualification or similar level of construction/design industry experience
- experience in delivering BIM-Driven projects
- advanced user of Revit and the Adobe Creative Suite
- experience delivering schematic and developed design packages including schedules and specifications
- excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills including presentation ability
- minimum of five-plus years post-graduate experience on mid-size to large architectural scale projects
- prior experience designing and delivering commercial architecture an advantage
