Project manager
at Jam Design Works
Jam Design Works is seeking a project manager to join its team in London.
We are a start-up interior design company based in North London. We’re growing rapidly and would love to find a bright, enthusiastic person to oversee all our projects and help us design and create beautiful spaces for our residential clients across North London.
Key accountabilities:
- overseeing the delivery of all our projects once our two founders have initial concepts signed off, including ensuring they are delivered on-time, to budget and to the high quality standards we pride ourselves on
- managing the sourcing of FF&E and supporting the two founders to bring bespoke designs to life
- managing and developing more junior members of staff, who focus on technical drawings and sourcing FF&E options for client sign off
- negotiating and opening new trade only supplier accounts and discounts, and developing JAM specific offerings
- keeping the team up to date on new suppliers, products and trends within the industry, with a particular focus on eco-friendly and sustainable solutions where possible
Detailed tasks
Delivery:
- work closely with the founders to add detail, costs and timescales to projects
- set up and manage formal project management processes within the business so there is visibility on progress and potential issues across all the work we do
- ensure that options for clients are researched, delivered and professionally presented to agreed timescales
- deliver each project on-time and to budget
- ensure all drawings and designs are done consistently and well
- undertake site visits and ensure any changes are reflected appropriately in the design delivery
- manage purchases and returns in liaison with suppliers
- ensure the quality of the work we do is consistent and high
Staff management:
- manage our interior design coordinator and project administrator and ensure that they continue to grow and develop in their roles
- support them to manage and prioritise workload within a fast-paced environment
- cover their tasks over any leave or absence
It is our expectation that this role will have more direct reports in time as the business grows and takes on more staff.
Negotiating:
- negotiate preferential rates and trade discounts with new and existing suppliers, and brief them on JAM requirements
- work closely with finance to open new trade accounts
- chase up any outstanding paperwork or detail
- liaise with new and existing suppliers to develop JAM specific offerings
Industry insight:
- keep up to date with industry trends, in particular new products, services, suppliers, using the trade press, shows and social media
- find new products and services offering eco-friendly solutions
- share all relevant findings and news with the team
Skills and experience
Essential:
- focused and hardworking, with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision on occasion
- experience of working closely with trades to ensure implementation of design details including the delivery of products to site in accordance with the build schedule
- demonstrable written and verbal communication skills
- strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- at least three to four years’ experience in an interior design environment
- knowledge of project management approaches and software
- experience of using Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- strong knowledge of SketchUp and similar
Desirable:
- experience of working with Canva
- experience of working in a small, growing business
- experience of residential interior design
- experience of Estimac, Programa or similar
