Mid-weight interior designer – hospitality

Big Mamma Group is looking for a mid-weight interior designer to join its team in London.
This cool, very successful and rapidly expanding international restaurant group is looking for a mid-weight interior designer to join their in-house design studio, offering the opportunity to work on iconic and highly creative projects with full involvement from concept to working onsite in the UK and abroad.
With new openings scheduled in seven countries in the next three years, this is an exciting time to join and be involved in the growth and success of the company as well as having scope for personal development.
Required experience:
- three plus years interior design experience, working on highly creative projects, ideally in the restaurant or hospitality sector
- design degree or relevant qualification desirable
- project management experience on interior design briefs
Skills:
- solid technical skills including a high level of SketchUp (essential), AutoCAD, SketchUp, InDesign, Photoshop and Excel, working on Mac and PC
- 3D spatial awareness skills
- strong freehand sketching abilities
Abilities:
- good eye for colour and materials
- good knowledge and understanding of finishes and materials
- accuracy and attention to detail essential, along with excellent administration/organisational skills and a great attitude
- work well under pressure and to deadlines with good initiative as well as ability to follow instructions
Key responsibilities will include:
- space planning and production of a full technical drawing pack, including an understanding of joinery, furniture and construction detailing
- assisting in the delivery of a strong design concept and creative vision through sketches and visualisation, adhering to budget and technical constraints
- awareness of current style trends as well as the wider restaurant industry
- good communication with the design team, contractors, in-house construction and operations team, also collaborating with the FF&E team
- regular site visits to track project progress
- helping with dressing and installation phase onsite
- assisting with handover, full maintenance and care guide, project feedback and snagging
This is a very busy hands-on role which will suit somebody who is genuinely hard-working and a very creative original thinker. You will be part of a friendly and collaborative team, where your input and ideas will be expected and welcomed – the company has a unique ethos and style which will require you to be confident and bold in your work and have conviction in your ideas. Candidates must be willing and able to travel to project sites.
