Graduate/junior exhibition designer
at Studio MB

Studio MB is seeking a graduate/junior exhibition designer to join its team in Edinburgh, UK.

Become not just a great interpretive designer – but an astonishing storyteller.

Award-winning visitor destination designers Studio MB are looking for an ambitious exhibition designer with vivid imagination and creative flair – a designer who wants to create inspiring, involving and informing environments for galleries and exhibitions within museums, brand homes, science centres and heritage attractions.

Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • creating CAD drawings, 3D CAD models and working with design schedules
  • undertaking design research for products, materials and finishes including compiling project samples
  • project coordination by email and phone with the wider design team on a project, for example, architects, access consultants, curators, AV hardware, AV software, lighting design, contractors and installation teams
  • ordering and maintaining the studio library of samples, charts, tools, books and resources
  • attending meetings, site and workshop visits as required both in person and online. Travel within the UK and sometimes abroad may be required
  • undertaking content research as required
  • recording notes and minute-taking
  • assisting with other studio tasks and projects from time to time as required

Please Note: Studio MB is located in Edinburgh. Due to the collaborative nature of our work, your presence working in the studio is essential.

  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills – visual, written and verbal
  • strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • ability to multi-task, prioritise busy to-do lists and work to tight deadlines
  • ability to take on board and implement feedback
  • ability to work with high attention to detail, consistency and accuracy

Desirable:

  • experience working in design for museums, heritage destinations, brand homes and/or experiential environments
