Architect – luxury hospitality/residential fitout
at Boundary Space
Boundary Space is looking for an architect – luxury hospitality/residential fitout to join its team in London or York, UK.
Senior project architect – luxury hospitality
Nine-month maternity cover with the potential for a permanent role.
London (Soho) or York, hybrid working, occasional UK and European travel.
Boundary Space is seeking an experienced project architect to join our team and play a leading role in the delivery of a prestigious and unique luxury hospitality project.
This is an opportunity to become part of a small, collaborative practice where you will have genuine responsibility, working alongside the directors and a highly experienced consultant team to develop and coordinate an exceptional interior architecture project.
This is not a planning or concept design role. Instead, we are looking for someone who enjoys technical development, organisation and coordination, and who takes satisfaction in bringing complex projects together through clear communication, attention to detail and sound judgement.
Why join Boundary Space?
We recognise that many experienced architects are looking for a role that combines stimulating work with genuine flexibility.
We support hybrid working, with up to three days working from home, and believe that trust, responsibility and quality of output are far more important than time spent at a desk. If you are looking for a role where you can make a significant contribution to an exceptional project while maintaining a healthy work-life balance, we would love to hear from you.
We welcome applications from experienced architects at all stages of their careers, including those returning to practice after a career break or looking for greater flexibility.
The role
Working closely with the directors, interior designers, consultants and specialist subcontractors, you will:
- coordinate architectural, interior design and multidisciplinary consultant teams to ensure information is aligned, coordinated and delivered on programme
- lead design coordination across a multidisciplinary consultant team
- organise design deliverables and ensure information is issued accurately and on programme
- develop detailed architectural and interior design packages

- maintain exceptional standards of design quality while ensuring technical solutions remain practical and buildable
- coordinate bespoke joinery, natural stone and other specialist packages

- chair design meetings and consultant reviews, ensuring clear actions and accountability
- attend occasional meetings and site visits throughout the UK and Europe
About you
You are likely to be an experienced architect who enjoys taking ownership of technically demanding projects and coordinating people as much as drawings.
You are organised, proactive and confident leading discussions with consultants and specialist suppliers, and you enjoy solving complex technical challenges through collaboration.
You are someone who earns trust quickly, enjoys bringing people together and understands that successful projects are delivered through collaboration as much as technical expertise.
Essential:

How to apply
Please send:
- your CV and salary expectation
- a portfolio (maximum 10 pages)
- your responses to the three questions below (maximum 150 words per answer)
We are far more interested in how you think, communicate and solve problems than the size of your portfolio.
Questions:
- what do you believe is the single biggest cause of poor coordination on construction projects, and why?
- describe a decision you made on a project that significantly improved the outcome but was not something you were asked to do. What prompted you to act?
- tell us about a construction detail or coordination challenge you genuinely enjoy resolving. What makes it interesting to you?
We’re not looking for the biggest portfolio. We’re looking for someone who notices what others miss, enjoys solving difficult problems and takes pride in helping teams produce their best work. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
