Suzy Hoodless Studio is hiring a full-time finance controller to join its team in London.
Who we are – the studio
We are a busy, friendly and fast-paced interior design studio with a small, core team of passionate designers encompassing a broad range of talents. Specialising in top-end residential and commercial projects, we have an extensive portfolio of work across London, UK and abroad which has earned us a long-standing position on the House & Garden top 100 list.
Our studio is in the centre of Holland Park and is designed with high-end Scandinavian and contemporary design classics. The successful candidate will have instant access into a thriving design studio where they will be exposed to all aspects of interior design.
What you’ll be doing – the role
You will oversee financial aspects and operations for our interior design projects and resources allocated to them, duties of which includes managing big-picture resources, budgets and purchases and working with relevant project managers and designer on the financial reconciliation of all projects.
You will support head of procurement, senior designers, project manager and studio manager in all areas of financial support by creating client invoices, managing supplier invoices and payments, tracking and reporting while balancing both the meticulous details and the bigger picture for complex projects, liaising regularly with companies’ external accountants on reporting and end of month accounts and supervising all elements of FF&E purchasing to include quotes, sales orders and invoices.
Primary responsibilities:
- lead project analysis in coordination with finance controller
- reconciliation of past and current projects on a regular basis, working in conjunction with PMs and designers
- raise monthly billing invoices, issue statements and monitor bank activities
- set up bank payments
- work with finance controller to gather relevant information for preparing the company’s monthly cashflow/income forecast
- help formulate new business contracts
- analyse historical project data to advise on fee structures and estimates
- manage budgets for FF&E alongside senior designers and project manager, aiming to maximise margins
- monitor and allocate design hours with the project managers, ensuring targets are met and budgets are maximised
- administer FF&E procurement, monitor quotes, sales orders and invoices as needed to support senior interior designers
- inspect and sign-off quotes and sales orders to ensure accuracy
- cultivate strong relationships with clients, vendors and third parties
- supporting SH product development and financial planning
- ad hoc financial duties as required
Your skills:
- minimum of three years’ experience in similar position
- advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams
- analytical and practical approach to problem-solving
- accountancy/financial/business qualification preferred
- experience with reconciliation
- be knowledgeable and up to date with all financial systems, VAT and other business-related financials
- knowledge of design/construction industry preferred but not essential
