Research associate – connecting, collaborating, communicating

The Welsh School of Architecture is seeking to appoint a highly motivated research associate to enable connection, collaboration and communication supporting a multi-disciplinary, broad stakeholder team to enable effective design, research, analysis, learning and delivery in the research area of bio-based materials and low carbon technologies in the retrofit and remodelling of existing housing. You will be joining a ground breaking £4.6 million Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) research project co-led by the University of Bath and Cardiff University to ‘transform housing and homes for future generations’.

The postholder will primarily be based on-campus working in a highly collaborative environment with regular travel to Swansea, Bath, Bristol and other parts of the UK as part of the research and design development. Limited hybrid working might be considered.

This post is full-time. The anticipated start date is 1 January 2024. This post is fixed-term for 18.5 months and your contract will end no later than 30 September 2025.

Job description

To support a multi-disciplinary, broad stakeholder team to enable effective design, research, analysis, learning and delivery in the research area of bio-based materials and low carbon technologies in the retrofit and remodelling of existing housing. The role will involve a high level of data management, engagement and dissemination activities ensuring communication and collaboration takes place within the consortium and with external partners and the wider sector.

The role will help to contribute to the overall research performance of the school and university, carrying out research leading to the publishing of high-quality research. To pursue excellence in research and to inspire others to do the same.
