Production manager

FBC London is seeking a production manager to join its team in London.
Experience
The production manager of FBC London will have a minimum of four to six years’ experience within high end luxury furniture production and supplier manufacturing processes role along with a relevant degree or education preferably in design or manufacturing. A sound knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and logistical processes is essential to oversee the full cycle of FBC’s production and processes.
Reporting to the commercial director they need to bring a strong level of expertise in manufacture and development of unique furniture and finishes. They will have a proven ability to work independently and be confident collaborating not only with our clients but also with FBC admin, the sales teams as well as other group departments.
They should bring to the group a level of expertise that helps it operate at the highest level and should also understand the management methods by which the group operates. Their expertise could potentially bring constructive ideas and methods which will improve the group’s existing structure.
Skills
The production manager will possess the following skills:
- costs management and sales margins
- budgets and forecasts
- full cycle furniture production including due diligence to ensure quality control
- the production of prototypes and quickly adjusting processes to allow development of final product
- research and development of new product lines and materials
- strong relationships with suppliers
- meeting tight deadlines and short lead times
- dynamic being flexible, professional, compliant and diligent under pressure
- well organised with excellent attention to detail in every area to ensure smooth running of production and procurement
- knowledge of AutoCAD
- fluent written and spoken English; a knowledge of other languages particularly Portuguese, French or Italian is beneficial
Responsibilities:
- manage FBC’s procurement, production systems and structures liaising with the commercial director
- liaise with other FBC employees and group management
- manage orders
- maintain a clear direction in developing a reliable supply chain
- manage suppliers ensuring delivery of quality items in timely manner
- develop strong relationships with suppliers so ensure the high quality of FBC’s products
- negotiate suppliers and manufacturers terms and conditions to provide the services required by FBC
- ensure designs produced by FBC’s designers can be effectively and efficiently produced
- oversea any prototype productions
- oversee sampling with the maintenance of a set quality control samples
- instigate a quality control procedure and overseeing the complete process from components, finishing, assembly, order picking to shipment
- manage production sales margins
- develop and nurture relationships with members of the sales team so they can offer highest levels of craftsmanship and service to clients, liaising directly with them to ensuring FBC client’s expectations are met
- collaborate with the finance department to ensure supplier invoices and bills are paid in a timely manner, including all customs and excise billing to guarantee no delay to the supply chain
- if required assist the sales team to raise quotations and collaborating with the finance department with invoices
- understand all stocks and inventory and manage these stocks both in-house and off-site
- when required collate technical drawing, installation instructions and other pertinent documentation
- evolving production scheduling from point of order through to delivery and if appropriate researching the best solutions and processes to implement across FBC
- planning work schedules to include checking and coordinating fabrication timescales, resources and production information ensuring delivery dates are met
