Interior designer

Sedley Place Design is recruiting an interior designer to join its team in London.

Sedley Place is an award-winning multidisciplinary creative agency with specialist skills in interior and architectural design, branding, packaging and marcoms.

We are looking for candidates who have proven and demonstrable experience managing the design and delivery of high-quality projects from concept through to completion.

They should have experience successfully leading a team, both internally and externally liaising directly with clients and reporting to directors.

Beyond project work, there is an expectation that the chosen candidate will actively contribute to the overall development, progression and culture of the studio; improving standards, work processes and sharing of knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • preparation of technical and construction drawings, details and specifications suitable for accompanying applications for planning and building control approvals
  • producing project cost plans and managing project budgets
  • proactively managing project workload and resource to efficiently and effectively to deliver projects
  • identifying and managing risk through proper coordination of design information in line with project programs
  • coordinate with external consultants and suppliers to ensure consistent designs are delivered
  • produce details drawings and specifications suitable for the design team to fulfil obligations in preparation of tendering and construction information
  • produce detailed construction information suitable to deliver built product without compromising to program, quality, health, safety and cost
  • preparation of specification documentation and schedules
  • attendance on construction sites as Sedley Place’s representation i.e. have experience working at all project stages including construction
  • be keen to support and deliver administration and team development.

Requirements:

  • either interior design or interior architecture qualification, a minimum of five years post qualification UK-based work experience in the commercial workplace and fit out sector
  • proven experience relating to the role described above on high-quality, realised, commercial projects
  • demonstrable experience in all stages of design projects, from concept to tender to construction and handover
  • knowledge of UK building regulations, particularly related to interior commercial fit-out projects
  • excellent interiors specification knowledge, including furniture
  • ability to work in an Apple Mac environment
  • UK resident status and legally able to work in the UK and commute to our London studio
  • ability to attend site visits and client meetings both with London, the wider UK and internationally, as required
  • interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • self-motivated with excellent intuition, initiative and ability to work independently, whether remotely or in the office
  • time management and organisational skills and commitment to meeting strict client deadlines
  • experience in BIM processes is a bonus
