Herman Coliver Locus Architecture is seeking a project designer with four to six years of experience to join its practice in San Francisco, USA.
HCLA is a team of 14 architects and design professionals. We are renowned for ground-breaking work in the design of mixed-use, supportive and/or affordable housing, specifically in the service of those suffering from homelessness, families and seniors. Beyond housing, we focus on the design of sacred spaces throughout California. We are distinguished as a civic-minded, community oriented, award-winning practice, 100% of whose clients are non-profit organizations. We work hard and both enjoy and respect one another a lot.
We’re actively working on the following projects at the moment:
- the first supportive, factory-built homeless housing to be built in SF–250 apts-in Schematics*
- 93 apts for low-income seniors in the rapidly gentrifying Mission District –in construction
- 94 units of supportive housing for low-income seniors in Fremont – in schematics*
- 80 apts for low-income families in Fremont – in construction
- a large, new from the ground-up synagogue campus – in schematics*
- the renovation of a sanctuary in Los Angeles – in construction
- a mixed-use development for a Buddhist Church in Chinatown – in design development*
Initially, you would be working on one or two of the projects with an asterisk.
What we expect of you:
- a passion for everything architecture / design / planning / urban design
- beautifully-honed design abilities
- management skills
- a commitment to mission-driven work and a collaborative nature
- a dedication to issues of environmental sustainability & resource efficiency
- strong, recently honed Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp skills (InDesign a plus)
- comfort with code analysis, as well as Title 24 and ADA regulations
- knowledge of detailing and how to compose a set of CDs
- experience with Type I and/or Type V construction
- an architectural degree from an accredited architecture school
- a thorough written and spoken command of the English language
- a place to live in the San Francisco Bay area
