Senior interior designer

The Heart of Europe is hiring a senior interior designer to join its team in Dubai, UAE.

The Heart of Europe is the flagship masterplan of the developer in Dubai, in The World island 4km from the Dubai coastline. The Heart of Europe is an upscale, sustainable and visionary island mixed-used destination comprising of 15 hotels and resorts, 4,000 holiday homes and hotel units, the iconic Floating Seahorse Villas, white sandy beaches, and the word’s first climate controlled rainy street and snow plaza.

Key responsibilities
Experience With five-star design/hotel projects:
- work on high-end, luxury hotel and hospitality design projects, ensuring the design aligns with the prestigious standards of five-star establishments
- this involves working on both interior and exterior elements, from lobby areas to guest rooms, restaurants, and public spaces
- utilise expertise in delivering top-tier aesthetics, functionality, and luxury to elevate the guest experience
Outline client design objectives:
- collaborate closely with clients to understand their vision, preferences, and business goals for the space
- conduct thorough discussions and consultations to gather essential information on their brand identity, target audience, desired ambiance, and operational requirements
- develop a clear design brief that reflects these objectives and forms the foundation of the entire design process
Conceptualise and sketch design plans:
- develop initial design concepts through hand-drawn sketches, digital renderings, and mood boards that visually represent the intended style, mood, and function of the space
- explore creative ideas that align with the client’s vision, while ensuring practicality and adherence to the brand standards
- provide multiple design options and iterate on concepts to achieve the best possible outcome
Determine cost of completion and project requirements in the budgeting phase:
- work alongside project managers and clients to establish realistic budgets for the design project
- assess material and labor costs, and incorporate them into the overall budget plan
- ensure the design concepts are within budgetary constraints without compromising on quality or design integrity
- help clients prioritize elements to fit within financial limits while maintaining a luxurious outcome
Set a timeline for the completion of an interior design project:
- develop a detailed project timeline with clear milestones, outlining the schedule for each phase of the project, including design development, material procurement, construction, and installation
- coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that all parties are aligned and that deadlines are met
- manage potential delays and make adjustments to ensure timely project delivery
Source materials and products included in plans:
- research and select high-quality materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and accessories that align with the project’s design concept and budget
- work with suppliers, manufacturers, and artisans to ensure the materials meet both aesthetic and functional requirements
- ensure the sourcing process is efficient and timely, with attention to sustainability, quality and luxury standards in mind
Create ‘mood boards’ to sample your design vision:
- develop mood boards or design boards to visually communicate the intended look and feel of the space to the client and project team
- these boards typically include samples of fabrics, colours, materials, and furniture pieces that represent the design vision
- mood boards help clients visualise how the design elements come together and provide a tactile sense of the space’s atmosphere
Utilise computer applications in the design process:
- use industry-standard software, such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite, to create detailed design plans, 3D visualisations and technical drawing
- this technology helps streamline the design process, ensure precision, and enhance client presentations.
- additionally, use these tools to modify and refine design elements as needed throughout the project
Inspect design after completion to determine whether client goals have been met:
- conduct post-installation inspections to assess the final result against the original design objectives
- evaluate the functionality, aesthetics, and overall quality of the finished project to ensure that it meets the client’s expectations
- if any adjustments are needed, work with the team to address them promptly
- gather client feedback to ensure satisfaction and make recommendations for any final touch-ups or refinements
Requirements:
- relevant bachelors degree from a reputable university
- at least five years experience (mid level) or 10 years experience (senior level) in interior design
- experience in five star hotel projects, preferably in the UAE
- project management experience
- experience with computational design
- highly creative, imaginative and artistic
- proficiency in AutoCAD, Illustrator, SketchUp or similar design software
