Part 2 architectural assistant/architect
at 1050 Architects

1050 Architects is seeking a talented Part 2 architectural assistant or architect to join its growing London team.

We are a small, friendly and ambitious practice working across a diverse range of projects, including commercial offices, workplace, hospitality, residential, student accommodation and heritage projects.

Our work covers all RIBA stages, with a particular strength in detailed design and project delivery. We are looking for someone who enjoys both the creative and technical sides of architecture and wants to take on genuine responsibility as part of a close-knit team.

For architect applicants, we are open to both newly qualified architects and those with a few years of post-qualification experience. This would particularly suit someone looking to develop into a project architect role, taking increasing responsibility for projects, coordinating consultants and working directly with clients and contractors.

For Part 2 applicants, we are looking for someone who is keen to develop quickly, take ownership of their work and progress towards running projects with support from our architects and directors.

Depending on your experience, you will be involved in:

  • working alongside directors and project architects across a variety of projects
  • developing projects from concept through to construction producing and coordinating high-quality technical information working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and subcontractors
  • attending design team meetings and site visits
  • reviewing specialist subcontractor information and resolving technical issues
  • taking responsibility for individual packages and, with experience, running projects supporting and coordinating other members of the team

You will gain experience across all RIBA work stages, including concept design, planning, detailed design, tender and construction.

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Part 2 architectural qualification or ARB registration strong design and technical detailing skills
  • good knowledge of UK construction and Building Regulations
  • experience producing coordinated drawing and information packages
  • strong Revit skills
  • experience of Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and SketchUp
  • a proactive approach and willingness to take responsibility
  • good organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines
  • excellent written and spoken English
  • the ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team

Experience working on projects during RIBA Stages 4 and 5 would be particularly beneficial.

For architect applicants, some experience coordinating consultants and taking responsibility for projects or packages would be advantageous, but we are equally interested in candidates looking to develop these skills and progress into a project architect role.

Working at 1050

As a small and growing practice, we can offer exposure and responsibility that can sometimes be difficult to get within a larger studio.

You will work directly with the directors and have the opportunity to be closely involved in projects from design through to completion. We want people to develop with the practice, take increasing ownership of projects and play a meaningful role in how the studio grows.

We aim to provide a supportive and enjoyable working environment where people can develop professionally while producing high-quality work.

The role is based in our London studio, with some flexibility for remote working.

Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.

We welcome applications from all candidates who meet the above criteria, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, faith or disability.

We look forward to hearing from you.

We thank everyone for their application; however, due to the number of applications we receive, we may only be able to respond to candidates shortlisted for interview.
