59 Studio is seeking freelance senior designers to join its team in London.
Call out for freelance, independent and consultant senior designers with a spatial design and architecture specialism.
59 Studios’ work is created by a core in-house team alongside a trusted pool of freelance, independent artists and consultants. As 59’s portfolio grows we are expanding our network of people we work with on project-based contract work.
We have immediate opportunities for freelance spatial designers and architects with a Part 2 qualification and demonstrable experience in Rhino, Vectorworks and Adobe Cloud Suite. You will become a key collaborator with us on some exciting new permanent and touring immersive exhibitions within our global portfolio of design work.
Contract lengths vary and fees are open for discussion.
The brief
To complement our existing team we are looking for individuals with the following experience:
- approximately five years’ experience in spatial design and/or architecture work
- highly skilled in Rhino, Vectorworks and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
- experience working on large-scale multi-stage architectural projects
- experience creating design work that meets the needs of stakeholders and clients
- proven experience in one or more of the following: audiovisual, theatrical, or immersive installations, particularly within entertainment, live event productions, exhibitions and/or themed environments
- a high degree of knowledge of design phases/work stages (RIBA or equivalent) and ability to deliver at all phases of a design process
- knowledge of integrating sound, lighting and AV into spatial environments
- scenography skills – hand sketching, visualising, 2d drafting, 3d modelling and physical modelling
- an understanding of tourable design

This specific call out is for experienced senior designers with detailed knowledge of spatial and architectural design. Whilst the above listed experience is essential for what we are looking for, we are open to those with very specific experience and skills that are transferable so please feel encouraged to contact us if you feel that there are indirect ways the brief lines up with your experience and interests.
