Part 2 architectural assistant
at Merrett Houmøller Architects
Merrett Houmøller Architects is looking for a Part 2 architectural assistant to join its studio in London.
Merrett Houmøller was set up in 2014 by architects Peter Merrett and Robert Houmøller. We have a diverse portfolio, having worked on residential, public and commercial buildings. We are a young, small, award-winning practice, with an office in London, and one also in Sheffield.
The majority of our work is in London. We have a range of projects we are currently working on, and are looking for someone to join the practice as it grows, and ideally to stay with us for a while.
Work is a mixture of private residential, developer-led projects, as well as more unusual projects occasionally.
We are interested in creating places and buildings but our practice is not limited to this. We are interested in design as a process of ‘making’. The relationship between the client and the architect is important.
Every project is different. We want buildings to be about our clients, the end users of the building, and the place where the building lives. We believe that architecture should be for the greater good. We are relatively young and still optimistic.
We like to think that we can offer excellent experience, and you should see projects through from inception to completion. Being a small office, you will get a lot of experience at all levels, and work will be very varied.
We need someone:
- thorough in their work
- who is willing to get involved
- who can work independently
- is ideally, fluent in Vectorworks, but this is not essential
- with a decent knowledge of UK building regulations
- who wants to run projects on site
