Financial controller

Whitby Wood is seeking a financial controller to join its team in London.
The financial controller will oversee all accounting functions and will play a key role in strengthening financial operations.
Key areas of impact:
- enhancing financial visibility – providing clear, data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making and future planning
- optimising financial operations – improving efficiency in financial processes, reporting, and forecasting to reduce risk and increase cost-effectiveness
- supporting business growth – ensuring financial systems and structures evolve with the company as it scales
- empowering the finance team – strengthening the existing team by providing mentorship, leadership, and career development opportunities
- driving financial efficiencies – identifying areas for cost savings, optimising working capital, and streamlining processes
Criteria:
- qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with experience in a growing business
- experience in scaling financial operations within an SME or founder-led company
- knowledge of group account management and intercompany transactions
- ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for decision-makers
- strong knowledge of UK financial regulations and accounting principles
- proficiency in financial software including Xero/ Quick books and Microsoft Office Suite
- a collaborative approach, capable of winning over teams and creating a positive finance culture
- track record of stability – someone who has demonstrated commitment in previous roles
Salary: £65,000 - £70,000
