About CuldeSac
Founded in 2002, CuldeSac is an architecture and design studio working at the intersection of strategy, design and experience. Our 30+ team transforms brand identities into spaces and narratives across retail, hospitality and experiential projects – locally and internationally.
The role
We are seeking a UK‑based freelance PR and communications manager to lead media relations and brand visibility for the UK and UAE markets, supporting CuldeSac’s growth and international profile. You will build and execute a proactive PR plan, secure high‑quality coverage, and create a clear, consistent voice for the studio across owned and earned channels. This is a contract, remote position with flexibility in time commitment and scope.
What you’ll do
- PR strategy and planning: develop a market‑specific PR strategy and calendar for UK and UAE; set quarterly objectives and KPIs (coverage, SOV, tier‑1 placements, speaking/awards)
- media relations: build and maintain relationships with editors and journalists across architecture/design/retail titles in the UK and GCC; proactively pitch projects, opinion pieces and profiles
- press assets and storytelling: craft press releases, press kits, project narratives, founder bios and Q&As; coordinate photography and asset delivery aligned to editorial standards
- awards and speaking: identify, prepare and manage award submissions and speaking/thought‑leadership opportunities aligned with our positioning
- campaign execution: orchestrate product/project launches and announcement timelines with internal teams; align owned channels (site, newsletter, LinkedIn) with earned media moments
- monitoring and reporting: track coverage, update media lists, and deliver monthly dashboards with insights and next steps; maintain accurate outreach logs (CRM experience a plus)
- market development: Advise on partnerships, events and key moments in the UK and UAE design calendars to amplify visibility and new‑business conversations
What you’ll bring:
- proven PR experience in the retail design / architecture sector (agency or in‑house) with a strong portfolio of placements in relevant tier‑1/sector media
- excellent editorial writing and story development skills in English (native‑level or C2); confident presenting to editors and clients
- established media network (UK essential; GCC/UAE highly valued) and fluency with the architecture/design press landscape
- strong project management: able to plan, prioritise and deliver across multiple storylines and deadlines in a freelance setup
- familiarity with creative workflows (from concept to delivery), and how to translate projects into compelling stories
- tools: press databases and monitoring platforms; G‑Suite/MS Office; basic Adobe/InDesign a plus. CRM (Salesforce) exposure desirable
Nice to have:
- experience coordinating awards and juries, and preparing speaking proposals
- understanding of retail and hospitality client dynamics in the UK and Middle East
- sensitivity to brand voice and visual standards; light content adaptation for social/owned channels
Contract and fee:
- freelance contract/retainer; fee commensurate with experience and scope
- remote, with UK daytime availability; occasional travel to London/Valencia/Dubai/Abu Dhabi as required
