Maccreanor Lavington is hiring a head of project operations and finance manager to join its team in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Maccreanor Lavington is a multi-award-winning, design led architectural practice with offices in Rotterdam and London.  We pride ourselves on shaping places where all can thrive, and our work spans the design and delivery of whole city master plans to single story dwellings. Although we work in many sectors we have a particular interest in urban design, residential, and education architecture.

We currently have an opportunity for someone to join our specialist business team working as the head of project operations across the practice, and as finance manager for the Dutch office. This is a multifaceted role with the opportunity to participate in a range of activities.

Key responsibilities

As the head of project operations you will work across the practice to guide and support the project leads to manage project appointments and ensure scopes of service and deliverables are clearly defined. You will monitor project profitability by leading regular project financial reviews, ensuring a consistent approach to our processes and systems, contributing to the overall risk management strategy of the company.

You will be responsible for managing finance for the Dutch office, and this will include budgeting and forecasting, invoicing and billing, credit control and debt recovery, bookkeeping, tax and VAT, payroll management, and financial reporting.  You will also work with the Company Finance Lead based in London to ensure that financial information is aligned and reported to the Company accounts.

Skills, knowledge and expertise

Due to this role operating in both the Dutch and UK context, it is essential that you are fluent in and have an excellent grasp of both Dutch and English language.  You will have experience in a financial management role and have sound accounting knowledge.

You will be skilled in using the Microsoft suite and have advanced user skills in Excel.  Knowledge of systems such as Accounts IQ and Rapport would be advantageous but are not essential as training will be provided.

Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of self-awareness, emotional intelligence, have a collaborative working style, and an inquisitive and friendly nature.  You should also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and an excellent eye for detail.

Pay and benefits

We work under the Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) for Architecture firms and the salary and benefit structure offered is in accordance with the CLA.

The salary for this role will be assessed in accordance with the Job & Salary Classification system for Architectural Firms 2025, with the minimum salary starting at level 7.  The salary will be dependent upon experience.
