London, UK
Interior designers/interior architects (freelance)
at House of Dré
House of Dré is seeking freelance interior designers/interior architects to join its team in London.
This is an open call to bring on a mix of freelance interior designers/interior architects, including senior, mid-weight and FF&E designers, to support a number of upcoming boutique commercial projects. Our work spans hotels, bars and restaurants, as well as commercial residential projects across the UK.
The initial contract would be full-time for two to three months (depending on start date). The intention is that if the collaboration is successful, you will become part of our regular freelance team for future work.
You’ll be working closely with me (Andreas, as creative director) and other freelance designers I have worked with over the last five years as part of a collaborative studio environment.
The roles
We are looking for talented designers to be involved in all stages of a project. You should be highly creative, versatile and organised, with a strong design eye and the confidence to contribute ideas.
Depending on experience and role, responsibilities may include:
- drawing production – Vectorworks users to the front of the queue
- FF&E and furniture design
- collecting, organising and managing samples from suppliers
- assisting with on site project administration
- collaborating closely with the design team on concept development
- hand sketching is a great bonus, as is a willingness to explore ideas through different mediums (collage, 3D design etc)
We need a mix of people with different experiences and backgrounds, so if your skill set is slightly different to what is listed above, do not hesitate to reach out.
Studio and working environment
The studio is based at Hackney Downs Studios (E8 2BT). We’re part of a large creative community of writers, directors, painters, graphic designers, sculptors and makers, around 30 of us sharing the space.
It’s a genuinely inspiring place to work. Everyone knows each other, collaborations happen naturally, and there’s a strong “university design studio” atmosphere. We regularly go out for lunch or drinks together, and the studio is also home to our material and samples library.
You’re welcome to use the space as much as you like. If you prefer working from home, that’s absolutely fine, but you can expect to be in the studio a minimum of one to two days per week. We only expect people to travel in if it’s necessary or if you feel like it would be nice to get out of the house a bit. It’s a bonus if you are in London, but most of my core team works remotely.
