Forward Architects is hiring a senior architect to join its team in Malta.
Forward Architects is an architectural design practice based in Malta. We are actively engaged in projects of varying typologies and scales including museums, educational buildings, residential, workplaces, hotel, restaurants. We are looking for a senior architect with a strong track record in designing and detailing across a wide range of public, commercial, hospitality, and residential projects.
In this role, you will contribute to projects across all phases – from initial concept through design development, tender documentation, and construction. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate exceptional design sensibility, strong conceptual thinking, and robust technical and communication skills, capable of operating at the highest professional level.
Candidates should have proven experience in carrying design intent consistently across all project stages, having contributed to complex, multi-disciplinary projects and developed a solid understanding of quality assurance processes, project coordination, and client engagement.
You will work closely with partners and design teams to establish and develop the project design direction, produce and coordinate technical documentation, and oversee project realisation. Depending on project needs and your experience, you may also lead teams responsible for specific aspects of a project.
Demonstrated experience:
- developing designs based on strong concepts and strategies in consultation with the partner-in-charge and client team
- leading projects through all phases, from programming, concept development, documentation to construction
- developing design options through 3D modeling and visualisation
- considering materials and costs within predetermined budgets
- creating concept narratives, finish material palettes, and assembling research materials for internal and client presentations
- developing space planning, and technical design
- specifying products such as fixtures, fittings, furniture, lighting, finishes and equipment, and presenting curated samples to clients
- preparing detailed drawing sets for presentation and bidding
- keeping up to date with emerging trends and advancements in the architecture and design industry
Requirements:
- bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture with a minimum of five years’ post-graduate experience in architecture
- strong conceptual, graphic, and design skills illustrated in a comprehensive portfolio
- proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite
- experience working on complex design projects in all phases
- experience working in construction documentation phases
- confidence working collaboratively in a dynamic environment
- fluency in English
Preferred:
- eight years’ post-graduate experience in architecture
- knowledge and experience working on BIM/Revit projects
