Winchester, UK
Architect or Part 2
at McLean Quinlan
McLean Quinlan Architects is looking for an architect or experienced architectural assistant to join its studio in Winchester, UK.
We are a design-led practice working mainly on one-off private residential projects, alongside selected commercial and cultural work in the UK and overseas. Our projects are rooted in place, material and long-term use, and often sit on sensitive or complex sites.
This role would suit either a qualified architect or a more experienced assistant who wants to be closely involved in the development of a project, from early design and planning through technical design and, where appropriate, delivery on site.
You will work closely with a director or associate and be involved across different stages depending on your experience, with a particular emphasis on drawing quality, design development and thoughtful coordination.
About you
You have UK practice experience at assistant or architect level and enjoy working carefully through a project rather than at high volume or speed.
You care about design, detail and how buildings are made. You draw well, think clearly, and take pride in the quality of your work. You are organised, responsible, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.
You are based in, or willing to relocate to, Winchester.
Practicalities
We use Archicad in the studio, so experience with it is helpful, or you need to be open to learning it.
Good written and spoken English is essential.
What we offer
Thoughtful, well-crafted projects with time given to design quality
Close working with directors and associates in a supportive studio environment
Proper involvement in design, development and delivery
A central Winchester studio with easy access to countryside, coast and London
Salary dependent on experience.
