Shanade McAllister-Fisher Design is hiring a junior interior designer to join its team in London for a four-month contract or on a freelance basis.
Shanade McAllister-Fisher Design is seeking a junior interior designer to support the studio across a range of high end residential projects on a four month contract, with the possibility of an extension. Candidates will also be considered. The role is based in London, with hybrid working offered. This is an opportunity to work within a small, design led team delivering carefully considered interiors and FF&E schemes from concept through to completion.
The role
You will support the design team across multiple projects, assisting with concept development, presentations, drawing packages and specifications. The role requires a strong design sensibility alongside excellent organisation and attention to detail. You will work closely with the studio founder, contributing to the creative development and delivery of projects from concept through to installation.
Key requirements:
- degree in interior design
- minimum of two years’ professional experience within a design studio
- proficiency in Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
- understanding of FF&E sourcing and specification
- knowledge of furniture, materials and finishes
- strong visual, verbal and written communication skills
- excellent attention to detail and organisation
- fluent written and spoken English
Responsibilities:
- assist with the development of design concepts
- prepare mood boards, material palettes and client presentations
- support the production of layouts and drawing packages
- research and source furniture, lighting, fabrics and finishes
- prepare and maintain FF&E schedules and specifications
- organise supplier information, samples and quotations
- assist with coordinating information from contractors, suppliers and consultants
- support project documentation and studio administration
- attend site visits and installations where required
- assist with ad hoc tasks to support the smooth running of projects and the studio
