J. Adams & Co. is seeking a product developer (lighting) to join its team in London.
J Adams & Co. is a fast-growing British decorative lighting brand known for creating timeless, meticulously crafted lighting collections for residential, hospitality and commercial interiors worldwide.
Working from our design studio in Clerkenwell and our manufacturing facility in Birmingham, we design and produce every product in-house — from precision-machined components and laser-cut parts to finishing, wiring and final assembly.
We are looking for a talented and highly organised product developer to join our small London team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong technical and creative skills who wants to play a key role in bringing new products to life and shaping the future of a growing design-led brand.
This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working across design, engineering, manufacturing and bespoke projects, and who is equally comfortable creating detailed technical drawings as they are building prototypes or assisting with exhibition installations.
Key responsibilities:
- develop new products from concept to production alongside the design director
- create technical documentation including CAD drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs and user instructions
- liaise with our factory and suppliers to ensure successful product launches
- handle bespoke enquiries, including feasibility, pricing and customer drawings
- maintain technical information such as spec sheets and CAD files
- provide technical support to the sales team
- assist with prototypes, installations, exhibitions, photoshoots and other practical tasks
- travel regularly to our manufacturing facility in Birmingham
Requirements:
- minimum four years’ experience in product development within lighting, furniture or a related industry
- degree in product design, furniture design or a related discipline
- advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and Adobe Illustrator
- technical drawing and drafting skills with an eye for detail
- lighting experience and/or electrical knowledge desirable
- highly organised, practical and able to manage multiple projects independently
