London, UK
Architect, Part 2 architectural assistant or exhibition designer
at Nissen Richards Studio

Nissen Richards Studio is looking for an architect, Part 2 architectural assistant or exhibition designer to join its team in London.

Nissen Richards Studio is a multidisciplinary design practice working across architecture, exhibitions, interpretation, graphic design, theatre, storytelling, film and animation. Founded through a collaboration between architecture and theatre design, our work brings together spatial thinking, narrative and technical expertise to create places and experiences that engage people.

Our projects range from cultural institutions and museums to residential architecture and public buildings, and are delivered both in the UK and internationally. We work collaboratively across disciplines, believing that the strongest ideas emerge when different perspectives come together.

We are looking for a technically accomplished architect or an exceptional Part 2 architectural assistant who combines excellent technical ability with design ambition. You should enjoy the precision of construction detailing while understanding how those details contribute to the overall design vision. Above all, you will be curious, collaborative and interested in making thoughtful, well-crafted architecture. This role offers the opportunity to work across both our architectural and exhibition design projects. We recognise that some people will naturally develop a stronger focus within one discipline, but we value individuals who are excited by the exchange of ideas between them.

What we’re looking for:

  • qualified Architect (Part 3), or an Architect with one to three years’ post-qualification experience (exceptional Part 2 candidates will also be considered)
  • strong design sensibility and excellent technical ability
  • demonstrable experience delivering RIBA Stages 4–6, including tender and construction information
  • experience working on medium to large-scale residential projects
  • a sound understanding of UK Building Regulations and housing standards
  • proficiency in Vectorworks Architect (2D and 3D) is preferred
  • experience producing presentation material and design documentation across all project stages
  • familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
  • strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams
  • confidence coordinating with consultants, contractors and wider project teams
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • an active interest in museums, exhibitions and cultural projects
  • a collaborative, positive approach and willingness to contribute to studio life

What we offer:

  • a supportive, open and collaborative studio culture
  • the opportunity to work on an exciting range of architectural and exhibition projects in the UK and internationally
  • early responsibility and genuine opportunities for professional development
  • a multidisciplinary team where architecture, exhibitions, interpretation, graphics and storytelling are developed together
  • flexible working around our Core Hours policy
  • regular inclusive yoga sessions
  • 20 days’ annual leave, plus three days over Christmas, one day for your birthday and bank holidays, increasing with length of service

If you are excited by the idea of combining technical excellence with creative thinking, and would like to contribute to projects that connect people with places, objects and stories, we would love to hear from you.

We are an equal opportunities employer. All candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. No agencies, please.
