Studio Kinmonth is seeking an interior designer and studio manager to join its team in London.

Studio Kinmonth is seeking a knowledgeable and highly organised interior designer and studio manager to join its international creative practice.

Our work spans interiors and architecture, exhibition, ballet, opera, costume and set design, as well as collaborations with leading international names in fashion and design.

This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys creative collaboration and is equally prepared to take responsibility for the practical demands of running a busy London studio. You will work closely with the creative director and lead designers, supporting the development and delivery of projects at the highest level.

We are looking for someone dependable, resourceful and meticulous, with strong technical drawing skills, sound judgement and an abundance of common sense.

Studio management and operations:

• oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the London studio
• manage the studio’s materials, fabrics and FF&E library, ensuring samples remain current and well organised
• maintain strong relationships with suppliers, makers and craftspeople
• coordinate deliveries, collections and incoming materials
• maintain an orderly, welcoming and well-stocked working environment
• organise drawings, samples, images and project documentation
• monitor project actions and ensure important details are followed through

Interior design and creative support:

• work closely with the creative director and lead designers across interior design projects
• contribute to concepts, material schemes and design presentations
• produce layouts, elevations and technical drawings
• source and specify fabrics, furniture, finishes and FF&E
• liaise with suppliers, craftspeople, contractors and other project collaborators
• support the Creative Director’s wider practice, including costume, set, exhibition and performance projects
• respond flexibly to the creative and practical needs of a multidisciplinary studio

Fabrics and upholstery

A passion for fabrics in all their forms and applications is central to this role.

A key responsibility will be working with the studio’s lead designers to develop upholstery and fabric schemes for a wide variety of projects. Studio Kinmonth creates its own fabrics and develops original schemes to commission, so curiosity, imagination and a genuine enthusiasm for textiles, colour and craftsmanship are essential.

What we’re looking for:

• professional interior design experience and strong technical drawing skills
• good working knowledge of Rhino, AutoCAD and Photoshop
• a confident design eye and natural understanding of colour, materials and proportion
• excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail
• a proactive, practical approach and the initiative to identify what needs doing
• the ability to manage competing priorities calmly and efficiently
• confidence working both independently and collaboratively
• reliability, discretion and a strong sense of personal responsibility
• a warm, positive disposition and an instinctively helpful manner
• a genuine interest in interiors, architecture, art, theatre, costume and design
