Eric Chavoix Architects is looking for experienced and talented design architects to join its international team in Mauritius island.
Founded in 1998, Eric Chavoix’s studio is a Mauritian practice conceived as a “boutique architecture studio” with a unique conceptual approach allowing for the design of tailor-made projects, grounded to the site and developed closely with its clients. Inspired both by his Mauritian-French origins and his experience at Atelier Jean Nouvel, Eric’s work is a search for the alchemy of contemporary and vernacular architecture, pure minimalism and warm atmosphere, cutting edge detail and natural material craftsmanship.
Over the years, our office has attracted many architects from all over the world and today our Mauritius-based studio team includes more than seven nationalities creating a dynamic environment, encouraging discourse and collaboration on a diverse range of project typologies, localisations and scales. We are presently working on projects on the different islands of the Indian Ocean, in St Tropez and Cape Town, with previous work in London, Paris, New York, Rio and St Barth.
Due to an increasing number of projects, we are looking for talented and experienced international design architects to join our team and collaborate with us on some of our new projects such as: several hotel projects (including two five star hotel in St Tropez, two boutique hotels and three eco-chic hotels), high-end residential projects, luxury villas, beach houses and head offices.
Applicants shall have a rigorous and high sense of design, but also technical skills and expertise in all design stages as well as excellent drawing, presentation and communication skills. Previous proven experience is required and candidates should be confident with a positive, generous and caring attitude to bring the right balance between architectural ambition, passion, respect to others, managerial skills, patience, as well as humour to the role. Each architect could be responsible for at least three projects.
We offer you to be part of our collaborative and creative practice that cares for architecture, for its environment and for people. You will be involved throughout all design stages, from conception to completion, on a large range of exciting high-end projects. Qualifications:
- professional architecture degree and a minimum of six years’ design and construction experience
- proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and MS Office
- ability in hand-drawings and/or Sketch-up would be appreciated
- ability to manage projects independently and efficiently, with architectural directions but minimum day to day involvement from Eric Chavoix
- ability to effectively communicate with design team
- have reasonable experience to prepare construction documentation
- some French experience would be appreciated
- fluency in English and a good level of French would be appreciated
Responsibilities:
- being in charge of at least three projects at the same time
- brainstorm on design concepts throughout the different design stages
- produce drawings from conceptual design to construction stages
- produce presentations for clients (architecture, mood boards, materials etc.)
- research local and international manufacturers’ materials, systems and specification
- coordinate designs with consultants and construction teams
- promote positive & kind team spirit, work closely with architects and draughtsmen
