Tuckey Design Studio is looking for an architectural model maker to join its team in London.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced architectural model maker to produce high-quality physical models, who is passionate about making, curious about materials and committed to producing thoughtful, precise and beautifully crafted architectural models.

The successful candidate will combine a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail with a strong understanding of architectural scale and the ability to translate drawings, digital models and design ideas into ambitious, well-crafted physical models.

Working closely with the architectural team, the candidate will engage with the design intent behind each project and develop appropriate materials and making techniques to communicate architectural ideas effectively.

We seek applicants with the following qualifications, qualities, and experience:

• experience in physical model making
• strong practical skills in card, paper and woodworking
• excellent craftsmanship, precision and understanding of scale
• ability to interpret architectural information
• strong organisational and communication skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach
• experience in plaster and Jesmonite casting desirable
• experience with 3D printing and digital fabrication is desirable
• experience in material experimentation and prototyping is desirable
• initiative, resourcefulness, and proactivity in approach to daily tasks whilst working within the agreed procedures and given timings
• a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word and Outlook
• ability to work well as part of a team and independently as required

This is a fixed-term contract tied directly to the completion of a project, with an anticipated duration of four–six months. The role will be full-time and office-based.
