Partisans is looking for a senior interior designer to join its team in Toronto.

Partisans is a Toronto-based architecture and design studio working across architecture, interiors and product design, with projects in Canada and internationally.

We are seeking a senior interior designer with substantial professional experience and a well-developed approach to spatial design, materials and interior architecture. We are interested in individuals who can bring their own expertise to the studio, take responsibility for complex design work and contribute to projects across different scales and typologies.

At Partisans, interior design is developed alongside the architecture from the earliest stages of a project. Our work involves a close relationship between spatial concepts, material development, custom detailing and construction. The position calls for someone who can work confidently across these areas, leading the development of interior spaces while collaborating closely with the architectural team.

Responsibilities:

• lead the conceptual, spatial and material development of interior projects
• develop and coordinate interior design packages from initial concepts through detailed documentation
• direct the design and resolution of millwork, custom furniture, materials, finishes and interior architectural elements
• coordinate technical documentation and design development with architectural teams, consultants and fabricators
• participate in client discussions and project delivery, maintaining continuity between design intent and its execution
• guide and contribute to the work of other designers, sharing technical knowledge and design experience

Experience and qualifications

We are looking for someone with substantial experience in an established architecture or interior design practice, and a portfolio demonstrating strong design judgement, technical understanding and responsibility for professionally developed projects.

Experience with complex hospitality, residential or comparable interiors is particularly relevant. We value an understanding of architecture and construction, along with the ability to develop design ideas into considered, buildable solutions.

We are looking for designers who work confidently in Rhino and Revit, with experience developing interior projects through detailed design and documentation. We also value experience with automation and AI tools, or an interest in exploring their applications within design and production workflows. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud is an asset.

Location and applications

This is a full-time, Toronto-based position, with work primarily undertaken in our studio.
