Senior Interior Designer
Lawson Robb is looking for a Senior Interior Designer to join its busy London-based practice. Job Description:
The senior interior designer’s principal role will be to support and manage the design process internally. The position will report to an associate director or a director – tbc.
The position would only suit a good ‘all rounder’ with ten years’ experience in high-end residential Interior Architecture and FF&E. Excellent client facing, communication, design and management skills are essential.
The job role and responsibilities include:
- manage project documentation delivery
- manage a combination of technicians and designers including time and targets
- design and manage to a set budget
- translate design concepts to reality
- design analysis, research and preliminary design studies
- development of design ideas by way of freehand sketches, Photoshop and CAD drawings
- production, or overseeing, of CAD drawings, details, CGI’s, specifications and other documents to design intent level
- FF&E sourcing and specification
- coordinating with external specialists consultants eg. PM, QS, M&E to integrate requirements and meet overall project objectives
- ensure the design meets the client’s requirements and specifications
- assist with work programming and reporting on project progress
- review shop drawings
- undertake site inspections and surveys
- procurement and installation of FF&E, or coordination and overseeing
- ensure office standards and level of quality is met on each project
- meeting with client representatives, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers and consultants of the company or our clients, etc. in our offices or abroad as necessary
- meeting with suppliers and manufacturers representatives, keeping abreast with current legislation, regulations and codes of practice relevant to all duties and responsibilities undertaken
Key skills and experience required:
- BA hons interior architecture, interior design degree or diploma or equivalent
- professional interior design experience in high end residential design
- a minimum of ten years relevant full‐time work experience
- excellent written and spoken English
- proficient user of AutoCAD LT 2010/2011
- good hand sketching ability
- competent user of Microsoft Office 2010
- digital graphic presentation skills, including good working knowledge of Photoshop, Indesign and SketchUp would be preferable
- project management experience from concept to delivery
- team management and leadership
- producing detailed design and construction drawing packages
- producing FF&E specifications – excellent and up to date supplier knowledge
- producing client design presentation packages
- working to budgets
- managing procurement and installations
