Johnson Naylor is looking for a procurement manager on a fixed term contract for six to nine months, subject to availability to join its furniture and styling team in London.
Johnson Naylor is an interior architecture and design practice based in Clerkenwell, London. Founded in 1990 by Brian Johnson and Fiona Naylor, we have developed a reputation for delivering inventive, contextual and elegant design. Working from first principles, our approach is collaborative, rational and open.
We are looking for someone to provide support to our furniture and styling team.
This team is responsible for the design and selection of loose furniture, window dressing and styling elements for the majority of projects at Johnson Naylor. These projects include show flats and marketing suites, private apartments and small offices. The work is both interesting and varied.
Providing support to our designers is essential to make everything happen in a timely and efficient manner.
You would be working with designers across several projects at any one time. The ability to organise your time and communicate well is essential as these projects require a high level of attention to detail at every stage.
Key responsibilities will include:
- product research – furniture, fabrics etc.
- liaison with suppliers
- managing and sourcing of samples
- ordering
- creating purchase orders
- fabric schedules
- cutting sheets
- delivery and installation logistics
- resolving aftercare issues
- cost control/budget management
- budget analysis and estimating for fee proposals
- liaising with accountant on orders/POs
You will need to be confident liaising with:
- furniture manufacturers and suppliers
- logistics companies – delivery and installation
- specialist suppliers (joinery, curtains, artwork)
- fabric suppliers
- building managers
You will have worked in the furniture industry already and will have experience of procurement and project management. A good knowledge of contemporary furniture and suppliers is essential.
